This is one of a series of five paintings that I made following the dreadful fires in South Australia in 2019. We lived on Kangaroo Island for two months in 2008. At that time there were areas of pristine wilderness, with koalas in the gum trees and many other animals. The fires left devastation on that beautiful island and I was heartbroken. In this piece, I have tried to recognise nature making a come back. The green shoots returning and invigorating the land.
