I am a painter, printmaker and multi-disciplinary maker living in Barnstaple. I graduated from the University of Leicester in 1996 with a BA(Hons) degree in Combined Arts, specialising in Art History and have practiced art all my life.
In recent years I have developed a range of artistic practices inspired by the natural world, land and sea and plant/animal life, all of which feature in my work. This year, I have moved towards painting in acrylics, depicting the wild natural environment around us in the South West, alongside developing my practice in textile Art.
I am interested in exploration of processes and methods, and in developing and exploring layering, texture and colour. I like to incorporate scrap, vintage and handmade papers etc, to create depth and texture in the base-layers of my paintings and sculptures. My sculptures seek to convey character and evolve as I create them, reflecting my lifelong love of wildlife.
I work out of my vintage-styled garden studio, called Pear Tree Cottage, where I have lots of space to do my painting, printmaking and sculpture work. This year I am moving into the world of exhibiting my work more widely, alongside continuing to develop my ideas into creative artworks.
