Nicola Hallman

ABOUT

Since launching her yarn-craft based business ‘Fleabubs & Lala’ in 2012, and ‘Lemon Coral Quay’ in 2019 local Artisan Nicola Hallman spends most days in her little garden studio creating one thing or another!

With drawing and painting being one of Nicola’s main passions she has produced pieces in oil, acrylic and watercolour over the years, and more recently introduced other medias into her collections.  Colour is always the leading feature in Nicola’s work, with a fascination for the bright and bold, and a lure to colour combination, theory and mixing.

As ‘Fleabubs & Lala’ Nicola focuses on supplying handmade items to the yarn world and is renowned for her ergonomically designed polymer clay crochet hooks, and gorgeous hand dyed yarns.  Details of these are available at www.fleabubsbylala.co.uk

The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have been a particularly industrious time for Nicola.  A piece from her collection based on ‘Body Positivity’ featured in the ‘GAIA-The Origin’ contemporary art exhibition at M.A.D.S.Milano Gallery in Milan.  More recently her piece titled 'Pip & Betty' was selected to appear in the upcoming exhibition held in connection with Grayson Perry & Channel 4's 'Grayson's Art Club'.  The exhibition will be in Birmingham from December 2022.  Nicola has also exhibited at Burton Art Gallery, Bideford; Studio Kind, Braunton; Mill Street Gallery, Bideford and Castle Museum, Bude..  Many more pieces from this collection are available from her Etsy store www.Etsy.com/uk/shop/LemonCoralQuay

Originally from Bedfordshire, Nicola moved to Devon with her Husband Chris in 2004, and in 2012 they moved to Hartland with their three children.  Fully embracing rural life in this beautiful little village, Nicola and her brood can often be found trotting along the lanes or around the village of Hartland with their ridiculous dog Django!
