ArtMakers at Arlington Court
27th June 2023
ArtMakers run a series of workshops with local artists at Arlington Court in June/July 2023.
From June 7 to July 2 Seven northern Devon artists and makers invite people to join them in a series of workshops from painting to jewellery making in the re-furbished Activities Room at Arlington Court. This exciting series of workshops has been organised by ArtMakers, with the support of the National Trust team at Arlington Court, and marks the latest venture in ArtMakers’ New Atlantic Wave activities.
“The chance to work with the team at Arlington Court, which is in the care of the National Trust, is a golden opportunity for local creatives to share their skills and passion with the public. The setting of Arlington Court is perfect given the creative work of Rosalie Chichester. The last of the Chichester family, she passed the estate to the National Trust in the 1940’s.” Phil Parker: Director ArtMakers
The northern Devon artists and makers involved include:-
June 7: Lucy Sheffield (Painting);
June 14: Adela Webb(Mosaic Making);
June 21: Sharon Gale (Decoupage)
June 24: Vanessa Ebdon (Jewellery);
June 25: Annabel Hill (Fabric Printing);
June 30 : Clare Willcocks (Painting); and
July 1 & 2: Merlyn Chesterman (Block Printing).
The New Atlantic Wave is the name of the collection of artists and makers who have joined forces around ArtMakers to promote the work of the over 100 practicing visual artists and creative makers found in the North Devon and Torridge region. Founded in 2021 ArtMakers responded to the impact of the Covid crisis by creating a virtual gallery and new virtual exhibitions. In 2022 they opened their first live exhibition at Appledore Book Festival to great success.
