Five members of the New Atlantic Wave will show there work at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park from 18-22 October 2023. The Art Upstairs gallery,Bideford, Devon, an ArtMakers’ project, is supporting them in their first venture into the Art Fairs of London.

SANDY BROWN
Known for her unique and vibrant design style, internationally recognised ceramic artist Sandy Brown studied and developed her creative skills at Daisei Pottery, Mashiko, Japan
Sandy has exhibited in galleries all over the world and has undertaken numerous public commissions including ‘Temple’ a large scale installation for Sotheby’s 2015 ‘Beyond Limits’ exhibition at Chatsworth House.
She opened the Sandy Brown Museum/Studio in Appledore in 2014
MERLYN CHESTERMAN RE
Merlyn, an established woodblock printmaker, is a Senior Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
She has exhibited at the Bankside
Gallery, Somerset House, plus the US and Sweden. Her work is also regularly seen at the RA Summer Exhibition, where in 2023 her print ‘Sapphire Sea’ sold out. ArtMakers is delighted to be able offer a special a/p edition of this same work here at the AAF.
We also offer a first showing of SLAB! A set of 6 large prints where careful examination of the work reveals a climber on the face of the north Devon ‘Walk of Life’ rock face. Climber and ropes were placed by climber Tom Randall as if he were climbing the print.
RACHEL STANTON
Rachel enjoys the fact that she’s an emerging artist, as this gives her “ the freedom to experiment and have fun with no pressure or expectations”.
Rachel has exhibited extensively in Devon and been featured in ‘World of Interiors’ and ‘House & Garden’. Rachel’s ‘Expansive’ is being shown as part of the under £500 collection at Battersea Affordable Art Fair.
LESLEY ANNE CORNISH
Lesley is self-taught, and has a long career painting in all mediums, she has taught in art studios in Spain, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Devon,.
Lesley enjoys experimenting and working within different mediums from oil to ‘Inklings’.
Lesley’s paintings hang in America, Canada, Finland, Spain, Germany, France and throughout the UK.
NQ FINE ART & ILLUSTRATION
NQ recently opened her first studio/shop in Ilfracombe, North Devon. With a first class honours degree in Fine Art she is an emerging artist working in gouche and pen ink. NQ’s work explores the decorative potential of landscapes and nature. Work which reflects not only the landscape around Ilfracombe but also the wider changing world
NQ had a solo show in South Africa, and exhibited in Bristol and Hull. as well as Rich Mix in London.
These artists and maker’s works reflects the diversity of creative work within the New Atlantic Wave. As the strength and awareness of ‘The Collective’ (as they are referred to by the Affordable Art Fair team), more members of the wave will land in London, and other art centres, over the coming years.
