ART UPSTAIRS GALLERY

The Art Upstairs gallery opened in July 2023 and is the Bideford home of the New Atlantic Wave group of artists. Find it on the first floor at 24 The Quay, Bideford, EX39 2EZ. Art Upstairs is an ArtMakers project run and managed by local artists on a voluntary basis. To support our work please donate HERE

Over 60 people attending the opening night of the exhibition. The ‘Openings’ exhibition included original work by 16 local north Devon artists and makers, including Merlyn Chesterman, John Hurford, Eilean Eland, Van Mare, Pete Newell, Alison Nicholson, and Philip Barnes.

Since its opening it has been visited by over 2500 people and staged exhibitions featuring over 70 artists and makers. Coverage of the exhibitions have featured in ‘The Western Morning News’; ‘Coast’; Exmoor Magazine; North Devon Journal and North Devon Gazette.

The gallery is noted for exhibiting emerging artists including Art Council backed Louise Bird, and textile artist Kate Eldridge.

Selected exhibitions are also exhibited at the National Trust’s property Arlington Court.
