We are so excited to welcome Sandy Brown to Studio KIND. to chat to us about her career to date, and her new commission ‘Earth Goddess’ in St Austell. Sandy, based in Appledore, has made a name for herself across Europe as a ceramicist who’s not afraid to push boundaries through her expressive and experimental work. Often working on a large-scale, ‘Earth Goddess’ is set to be the UK’s tallest ceramic sculpture and we can’t wait to get an insight into Sandy’s working processes and how she tackles these impressive commissions. Sandy studied at Daisei Pottery in Mashiko, Japan. Now over 46 institutions and museums world wide hold pieces of her work in their permanent collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Ulster Museum in Belfast, the Aberdeen Museum & Art Gallery, the World Ceramic Centre in South Korea, and the Museum for Applies Art in Frankfurt. Sandy has worked with big names, such as Richard Long and Peter Randall Page, and she opened the Sandy Brown Museum in Appledore in 2014. ‘Earth Goddess’ opens in St Austell in June 2022.
