I am a local artist working in a variety of mediums including watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel and mixed media.  I don't have a particular style or genre, I prefer to see what inspires me on the day!  I began painting in oils originally but the need to find a more flexible medium when I had children introduced me to pastels which I still love to work with, the colours are so varied and beautiful, who could resist!  More recently I have moved to a more abstract way of working, mainly with watercolour and mixed media, I like the fluidity of the paint and the wonderful effects that can be created with just a bit of water or salt!   Whilst I still do pastel portrait commissions, I am currently aiming to develop my watercolour work to include a richer palette and a more semi-abstract approach.  I am continually inspired by the wonderful wild Devon and Cornwall coast and moors near where I live, there is plenty of inspiration to be found out walking with my dog, and I like to try to incorporate not just my interpretation of the landscape but also its physicality and mood.  Please do feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about my art or to discuss any of my work.
